Have you ever bought something for your studio, and as soon as you hooked it
up, gotten angry at yourself for not buying it earlier?
Man, I just got myself a little working desk w/ a rack and all. I can actually USE
my gear now! Before it was all strewn about the room and was a big pain in the
rear to navigate. Now, its all right here in front of me. (Hehehem I am also real
excited cause I got a 17" Monitor too! This is from a 12" Laptop
screen...WOAH!)
Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is, that if you havent already, go buy
yourself some decent studio furniture, itissonice!
Time for music, Peace!

I think others will attest to the power of this one, too.... perhaps even moreso than anything mentioned thus far:

PATCHBAY

Aye nothing like not having to get off your arse and grope around unplugging things at the back of a desk.

mine was a G4 400 and 001 about 5 years ago, after a long time break up with my atari st / cubase v3 love affair

a brief 6 month torrid relationship with a pc and cubase score was inbetween, but it still hurts to talk about that

I had a brief "come to jesus" moment a couple of years ago with a set of Hr824's, but nothing will come close to the moment of THE DAWN OF DAW!

Ah yes yes, some good examples here. I'd say my biggest "come to jesus?"
experience was the switch from a shiesty Compaq PC to Logic Platinum on a
G4.
Then my KRKs come next I guess.

But also--I can't say it's one of the most important, but probably the most
influential buy was my first VA Synth. Totally opened doors no?

mine was my first pro sampler (e-max) - it blew my mind!... i could do whole tracks with ONLY the e-max for drums, bass, loops, synths etc

yeah, my first sampler was a Mirage... awesome in the day...

but it was my A3000 that really opened up new vistas and changed the way I worked.

Well, I never had much gear, so my list contains pretty basic stuff

- Gravis Ultrasound
- Impulse Tracker (back in 1997) then:
- Midi keyboard (2000, until that time I used the computer keyboard) then:
- Propellerheads Reason

...
This year it could be ableton Live 4.0...
